Strengthening Mobility and Revolutionizing Transportation (SMART) Grants Program
The US Department of Transportation’s Strengthening Mobility and Revolutionizing Transportation (SMART) grant program was established under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to “provide grants to eligible public sector agencies to conduct demonstration projects focused on advanced smart community technologies and systems in order to improve transportation efficiency and safety.” Projects must include more of the following areas:
- Coordinated automation
- Connected vehicles
- Sensors
- Systems integration
- Delivery/logistics
- Innovative aviation
- Smart grid
- Traffic signals
